Although there is no study yet that can 100% verify that ozone can destroy the SAR-COV-2 virus, based on similar virus studies and knowing the high oxidation power of ozone, ozone is presumed to potentially inactivate and destroy the virus.

In fact, there are studies that have shown that ozone can destroy the SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) virus, a direct family member of Covid-19.

It is also important to mention that in a study recently published in January 2021, led by Dr. Ines Zucker of Tel Aviv University, through the use of Pseudo virus (a replica of the laboratory-controlled virus) it was possible to demonstrate that ozone reduces the infectivity of the virus and that ozone can penetrate any space in the treated area, making it a more effective disinfectant against SAR-COV-2 with a high potential to overcome the short access of the application of liquid disinfectants.

Ozone being a highly oxidizing gas can destroy or inactivate at the molecular level elements such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, odors, and countless microorganisms, resulting in effective disinfection over the areas in which it acts. There are a lot of studies done on these ozone properties that prove their effective action. An EPA brochure quotes: "Ozone is an oxidizer and very strong germicidal virus agent." "The effectiveness of disinfection depends on the susceptibility of organisms to be treated, contact time and ozone concentration." (EPA Brochure 832-F-99-063).

Ozone has a much higher oxidation capacity than chlorine and alcohol, so its disinfectant action is superior. In addition, when applied in the air it can reach spaces that chlorine does not reach. According to EPA brochure:"Ozone treatment has the ability to achieve higher levels of disinfection compared to chlorine or ultraviolet light." (EPA Brochure 832-F-99-063).

SZA equipment comes with a pre-set manufacturing schedule to treat environments up to 750 square feet. They can offer multiple cycles for different area sizes. Also, they can be programmed at the factory according to the user's need.

No. Ozone shock treatments should be administered in areas where no people or pets are present.

The duration of SZA equipment cycles includes an ozone generation time plus an ozone dispersion time unlike most of the competition products whose cycles relate only to ozone generation time and in which it is necessary to wait 30 to 40 minutes after the cycle ends. With SZA equipment you can enter the area immediately the equipment ends its cycle of operation.

Yes. Continuous treatments of SZA equipment are programmed to generate low amounts of ozone intermittently and controlled in such a way that the amount of ozone accumulated in an area is always within the safe ozone levels for people and pets.

The use of SZA equipment in continuous mode acts as an air purifier that makes periodic ozone emissions that allow to maintain the area with disinfection levels of up to 80%, without exceeding the recommended saturation levels when there are people or pets present.

The frequency of treatments will depend on the environment and how frequently the area circulated by people. The great advantage offered by SZA equipment is the ability to extend the effectiveness of treatments by offering the continuous mode option that can be administered after ozone shock treatment. Here are some examples:

  • In a doctor’s office where potential disease-carrying people circulate, several shock applications may be performed throughout the day, and use continuous mode between shock applications.
  • In a school where students change classrooms from time to time, it is recommended to apply a shock treatment at the end of each class, thus ensuring a disinfected environment for the next group, and then leave the equipment in continuous mode to keep the area with a better level of disinfection at all time.
  • In hotel rooms, it is necessary to give a shock treatment every time there is a change of guest.

The places, frequency and application formula are unlimited and will depend on the user's situation, but in case of any doubt you can contact SZA if you need guidance to administer treatments in a certain area.

It is going to depend on how serious the situation is. Before giving an ozone treatment to inactivate odors, we must first ensure that the source that produces the odor is removed from the area otherwise it will never be eradicated and we will be disguising the odor with ozone.

An after-cooking food smell can be eradicated with a short treatment (15 to 20 minutes), instead a burning smell produced by a fire can take treatments of several hours, although it is not recommended that a treatment last more than 4 hours. If necessary, it is recommended to do multiple treatments that do not go after 4 hours.
